Drydep: discrepancy between area fraction of each surface type and roughness length
Posted by Sylvaine Ferrachat 06/09/2021 https://redmine.hammoz.ethz.ch/issues/789
The drydep LG code uses the area fraction- and the roughness length of each surface type. In ICON, the earlier is updated before vdiff
(in surface_fractions
, called by echam_phy_main
), while the later is updated within vdiff
, after the downward sweep part.
This is a pb because the drydep calculations for HAMMOZ are called in a hook inside the vdiff downward sweep calcs, where the above two quantities are still in discrepancy. This yields spurious cdimissval (-9.e15)
values in the roughness length field, which then pollute the dry dep calculations over ice.
